Samhain (or Samhuinn), the original Celtic New Year, is my most beloved festival — a threshold moment, like El Día de los Muertos, built on community, Spirit, Nature, and seasonal change. This is the night when the veil is thinnest, when ancestors, spirits, and “hungry ghosts” walk among us, and our guising once protected us from malevolence at the door. But Samhain was never meant only for fear; it was a time to bless the last of the harvest, to petition Nature for survival through winter, and to honor the ancestors whose resilience is the marrow of our bones. They endured wars, famines, oppression, and short lives, yet they dreamed of the freedoms you now inhabit. Those same ghosts in our genome — their grit, boldness, and tenacity — whisper through epigenetic inheritance. This year, we step through Samhain not just to remember them but to liberate what they could not, casting off the pains and blockages still echoing in our lineages.
With the Supermoon rising and interstellar object 3I/ATLAS reaching perihelion in our solar sphere, we are also in a “beyond-future” moment: a cosmic signal of arrival from outside the Sun’s dominion. Some call this herald a messenger, even the return of what myth names Archangel Gabriel — not with trumpets but with celestial gravity, a sign of announcement and awakening. In our gathering, we will utilize the 3i/ATLAS framework (Integration, Illumination, Initiation) to transition from ancestral memory into a future Self, fusing old earth wisdom with cosmic transmission.
